- Friedrich first worked in the business part of his relative Springmann in Liverpool, then took part in his fathers business in Barmen until the latter's death in 1886.
He then started the firm "Cramer & Bonsiep" in Barmen for the manufacture of button materials.
This firm existed until 1899. From 1899 until his death he was the deputy chairman of the Royal Trade Court in Barmen.
During 1886-1901 he was on the committee of the Barmen Arts Society, from 1901-1908 on the board and then until his death on the committee again.
In 1870/71 he was a member of the Barmen auxiliary corps for nursing sevices before Metz.
The couple first lived in the old house "in der Eue" which was built by Maria Bredt Abrath 1738 (Bredt family history, p. 104) Then they moved into the houe on the corner of Clever and Bollwerk streets, see the picture "Clever Bollwerk"
In 1895 they were able to move into the house on 4 Bollwerk street that they had built on the inherited Greeff garden plot.
