Notes |
- GC de Wet, in his commentary on Resolusies van die Politieke Raad (Vol VI p129), writes that "Jan Jurgen Roos van Eisenach, soldaat, arriveer 1710. In 1711 bode van die Laddrost Stellenbosch, 1715 bode van die weeskamer. 1715 Vryburger. Hy was getroud met Sara Coetzee, weduwee van Matthijs Greeff. Hy is in 1722 oorlede."
Neither Matthijs nor Roos could possibly have died in 1722 because the taxation and inventory of the deceased estate of Roos himself (dated 21 Dec 1718) mentions that he was married to the widow of Matthijs Greeff. Thus Roos could not have died in 1722. Nor could Matthys, whose widow married Roos.
