- He was educated in the Cadet Corps and was an active officer for two years in Infantry Regiment no. 31 in Altona.
Because of an accident in service he had to be pensioned.
He then studied law, became an articled clerk in 1913, an attorney in 1920 with the degree Dr. jur.
During the war of 1914-1918 he was called up again and promoted to captain in the Replacement Batallion of Fusillier Regiment no. 36.
Since 1921 he was active in the State Finance Department as State Councillor.
In 1939 he became Senior state Coucillor with the Kassel Treasury.
