- He became a businessman and went to England at an early stage where he ahd the luck to enter the firm of his cousin Robert Greeff "R. W. Greeff & Comp" (branch Greeff-Andre II) virtually as a junior partner. After a few years the urge to be independant caused him to leave the firm again.
He came to regret this step, when the firm had developed to oe of the most significant in it's kind, while he himself suffered setbacks after many hopeful starts.
The difficult times during and after the war, together with the unfavourable economic conditions played a decisive role in this.
Although suffering from a serious heart disease from his 55th year he managed to win through every time by dint of his sparkling mind and his indomitable will to live. At the age of 72 he had to resign from his business activities as a result of his worsening heart condition.
The sense of kinship which he had proved by deeds freed him from cares.
