- Joseph was active for several years as an actor and stage manager on various German stages.
Since 1936 he settled in Stuttgart as free-lance scriptwriter for the stage.
The main line of his work was radio plays, of which a considerable number were brought to audiences by several German transmitting stations.
In the war of 1914-1918 he received the Cross of Honour, second class.
In September 1939 he again heeded the call of the fatherland and took part in the advance in France as lance sergeant of the Reserve.
After the armistice with France he was transferred to a properganda company in Paris because of his profession.
