  Kaufmann He studied agriculture and until 1903 he was inspector of estates in West-Prussia and Silesia. Then he went to Canada, returned in 1904 and became an accountant on the von Gerdorff estate in Posen. Since 1911 he attended 6 semesters at the Evangelistic school aJohanneum in Barmen for a theologic education. At the outbreak of war in 1914 he was a brother in service of the Bodelschwinghinstitution, then spent 1916-1918 away at war. Up to 1927 he was the proprietor of a winter fruit storehouse in Donaueschingen and afterwards he lved in Barmen.
