  In 1748 he bought Parelvallei(now Somerset West) from Olof de Wet but sold it in 1763 to Philip Wouter de Vos. He was also owner of Gustrouw near Gordons Bay and owned four properties in the Tafel Valley. He also owned De Fortuin in Hottentots-Holland. In addition to his farming interests he was also an artisan, e.g. built windows into the Church at Stellenbosch and was also, for a while, "Wagmeester" at Stellenbosch.
