  He attended the gymnasium and after the school leaving examination he started as apprentice with the cigarette factory Lande. He received an appointment after two years apprenticeship and since then he worked in the publicity departement. In Nov 1939 he was called up to Maching-gun Section 7 and trained until Jan 1940. In Feb 1940 he joined the troops in the field to the west. He was lucky to survive the heavy exertions of the break-through and advance into France without suffering any wound. (L.
