  Hy was volgens SAG 10 'n "trooper in the force called the DistrictMounted Troops" en was gedood in aksie deur die Boere te "Bothas Kraal" in die Uitenhage distrik. The death notice reads "killed in action by the boers at Bothas Kraal,Uitenhage". A statement by the widow reports that there "was a trooperin the force called the District Mounted Troops.
