  Farmer de Goede Hoop and RhenosterrugWas 'n heemraad in Drakenstein, later volg sy broers David en Jan ook in die rol. Hy was ook 'n Kaptein in die Drakenstein milisie toe hy al ouer was. Hy trou eers met Susanna Joubert ('n niggie - trouens, ook die kind van 'n neef en niggie!). Toe sy met kindergeboorte sterf neem hy vir Johanna Lombard as vrou, 'n dogter van sy broer Jacobus se vrou Louise, vanuit haar eerste huwelik.Besit ook die plase "Rhenosterrug" Wellington, en "De Leeuwendans" He owned the farms "De Goede Hoop" at Groot Drakenstein, "Rhenosterrug" at Wellington and between 1744 and 1760 also the family farm, "De Leeuwendans".In 1724 he joined the Drakenstein Dragoons; was promoted Corporal in 1728, Sergeant in 1729, Lieutenant in 1744 and Captain in 1754. In 1758 he applied to theGovernor for his disharge from the dragoons on the grounds of ill health.He was also a deacon in the Drakenstein congregation and "heemraad" (similar to Member of Parliament) for Drakenstein.He married (1) Susanna Joubert 29 may 1735 and (2) Johanna Lombard 31 Nov 1737.
