• Notes

  Heinrich was the progenitor (stamvader) of the Eckhoff family in South Africa. He was from Essen in the Rhineland, Germany. He arrived in the Cape in 1684 as a soldier. He became a citizen in 1687 and settled in Stellenbosch.
