Haar vader Pierre Joubert (stamvader) van De La Motte d'Aigues, Provence in Frankryk het in 1688 met die skip "Berg China" na Suid-Afrika gekom (saam met Adriana Jacobs <2>). Haar broer is Francois <37>. In haar testament van 17.5.1783 meld sy dat haar twee slawe, David en Filis, van "Cabo de Goe de Hoop" na haar dood by haar man (van Emmenis) moes aanbly en wanneer hy sterf, moet hulle by haar kinders gaan bly. Sy bepaal ook dat die slawe nooit verkoop mag word nie. Alt Death: Abt 1753 Cape, South Africa Alt Birth: Cal 1712 Swellendam Watter inligting ek wel het is dat Rachel Joubert, die elfde en jongste kind van Pierre Joubert en Isabeau Richarde op 22.1.1730 te Stellenbosch getroud is met Dirk Willem CRAFFORD. Hulle het op die veeplaas, wat 'n leningplaas was, Romansrivier in die Land van Waveren (die huidigeTulbagh), geboer. Romansrivier het gegrens aan De Plaisante, die leningplaas van Rachel se vader Pierre Joubert. Dirk Willem Crafford is tussen 1740, toe hy as bewerker van die leningplaas geregistreer is en 1744 toe sy en Rachel Joubert se boedelinventaris by die weesheergeregistreer is, oorlede [KAB: RLR 10/1; 2.2.1740 bl.169; MOOC 8/6 no.61Maart 1744]. Rachel Joubert trou op 30.12.1744 te Tulbagh met Gerrit VANDEVENTER wat voortboer op Romansrivier [KAB: RLR 10/1; 2.2.1740 bl.169;G4.9/1]. Toe Gerrit en Rachel se testament op 2.1.1757 opgestel is was hy sieklik. Hy is later in die jaar oorlede [KAB: MOOC 7/1/9 no.105] en Rachel trou vir 'n derde keer op 24.8.1760 te Tulbagh met Johannes Albertus VAN EMMENES. Hy boer die volgende 36 jaar op Romansrivier.
