- The younger son Carl wanted to go to the West Indies in service of the Rhenish West Indian company but gave up this plan and became representitive of the frim "J.P.Greeff & Sohn".
After the death of the father Eduard and Carl took over the business, but as a purely metal button factory; nothing further was heard of the other manufactured articles. The factory buildings were close to the Old Market on the Wupper, on the present Gemarke shore.
The offices were in the Old Market in an annex beside the old Wichelhausen house.
King Friedrich Wilhelm inspected the factory on 27 Aug 1842 and bestowed the Order of the Red Eagle IV on Karl Greeff.
Later he named him Royal Trade Councillor.
