  Kgf Comerzieriat A P Greeff G W Safin, Barmen Carl was the owner of the firm "J. P. Greeff, G. W. Sohn" in Barmen, Royal Trade Councillor and Knight of the Order of the Red Eagle. In 1845 and 1855 he was elected Churchmaster of the Reformed parish Gemarke. In 1833 he joined the Concordia Company and became its director in 1859/60 Carl Greeff lived in the old Bergische house at the corner of Clever and Bollwerk streets, in the picture "Clever Bollwerk" at a. He built a new house in the garden of this house in 1883 at b., where his son Rudolf later lived. First his son-in-law Cramer and then his daughter Pauline moved into the old house. The houses remained connected through the garden. On the other side of the river Wupper lay his factory. For their descendants see the branch Greeff- Ritterhaus.
