- Otto Greeff, for whom a business career was originally intended, had a marked artistic talent, which initially tipped the balance in his choice of career. He became a singer, but after suffering a throat disease changed to actor.
He started his atristic careeer by an engagement in Vienna. Presumably his voice impairment was the reason for turning to a business career after all. In this capacity he stayed in Vienna for the time being, then lived with his brother Ernst in Frankfurt for 2 years, and then moved to Kon-Lindenthal. He was the originator of the "Greeff Whistle" which served as recognition signal among the Greeffs for decades afterward ( From the waltz by Julius Schulhoff "Valse brillante"Op.5.)
