  Sophie was born as the First daughter after 9 sons in the old house at no. 7 Reformed Church street, like all her siblings. After completion of her school training she attended a finishing school in Clarens (Lake Geneva) and following the death of her mother she had to run the household for her father. She accompanied her father on his last journey to America in 1871. She bore her husband 8 children in the old house on Reformed Church street, thereafter moving with him to the Werth family home in Muhlenweg.
