Helene married Paul Caspar GREEFF on 18 Dec 1880. Paul (son of Richard GREEFF and Cacilie GARTHE) was born on 3 Jul 1854 in Koln; died on 18 May 1923 in Frankfurt Am Main. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

Notes:

He attended the model school (secondary school) in Frankfurt am main. His highest ambition, to become a naval doctor, foundered on the lacking sharpness of sight in one eye.
Because of this he abandoned his studies in medicine and became an actor.
After his completion of his one year of voluntary service n Field Artillery Regiment no. 63 in Kastell he found an engagement as youthful amateur and stage director on several German stages.
He then changed his occupation and found good employment as technical merchant with the Sachsenwerk in Dresden. he served in the World War as Lieutenant in the Reserve of Field Artillery Regiment no. 12.
After a wound sustained in Dec 1914 on the western front had healed he came to Galicia in Feb 1915. During the withdrawel of troop from Rumania in autumn 1918 he was again wounded and had to be left behind in Corabia. However he could be brought to Germany in a cattle truck of the last train of Field Marshal von Mackensen's army, where his relatives could receive him after months of uncertainty, happy although badly wounded.
In October 1919 the Sachensenwerk in Dresden transferred him to Leipzig as department manager, where he died as a consequence of his wounds.

Edith married Adolf VON HEPPE on 4 Mar 1916. Adolf (son of State Economic Councillor Karl Georg Franz VON HEPPE and Charlotte Luise VON BARDELEBEN) was born on 8 Jul 1886; and died. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

Notes:

He attended the model school (secondary school) in Frankfurt am Main and then became a businessman.
At the completion of his two years training (1908-1910) with the firm "Pfister & Vogel, Leather Comp," In Frankfurt am Main he worked for them for a further three years.
In April 1913 he joined the Infantry Bodyguard Regiment no 115 in Mainz as a one year volunteer. After six months he became a lance-corporal and after nine months non-commissioned officer and condidate officer.
After completion of his priod of service and some weeks before the war broke out he was appointed by the firm 'Leopold Casella & Co., Ltd." and earmarked for a position abroad. The war put an end to his hopes for an appointment abroad, for on the 22nd Aug 1914 he lost a leg in the battle at Neuf-Chateau, in which he earned the Cross of Honour class II.
At the end of May 1915 he could resume his post with the above-mentioned firm despite his grave physical handicap, and in 1923 he received full authority to act.
With the amalgamation of his firm with the I. G. Farbenindustrie Ltd. he retained his employment; in April 1935 he received power of attorney.

Notes:

Before her marriage Herta was active as opera soubrette on a series of German stages, such as Breslau, Gotha, Darmstadt, Braunschweig and Mainz.
It was about the turn of the nineteenth century. In a school in Oberusel, Hessen, the teacher had been given a "new" class and was busy finding out the names of the pupils and the social standing of their parents.
With one little girl there seemed to be something seriously lacking about the occupation of the father.
To all the friendly "coaching" byt the teacher: is he a shoemaker? or a baker? or does he own a shop? Is he an official? the answer was a dismal "nNo"
At last she lost her patience:"Well, Your father must do something!" she snapped.
"Oh yes" the little girl replied, both startled and relieved, "he sits in 'Falstaff' and drinks champagne!"
The small girl was Herta Greeff, and her father Paul the subject of these lines.

Herta married Joseph STAUDER on 30 Jul 1934 in Wildbad. Joseph (son of Kasper STAUDER and Maria Theresia WINKELMEYER) was born on 16 Feb 1897 in Radevormwald; and died. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

Notes:

He attended the gymnasium and after the school leaving examination he started as apprentice with the cigarette factory Lande.
He received an appointment after two years apprenticeship and since then he worked in the publicity departement. In Nov 1939 he was called up to Maching-gun Section 7 and trained until Jan 1940. In Feb 1940 he joined the troops in the field to the west. He was lucky to survive the heavy exertions of the break-through and advance into France without suffering any wound.

Notes:

When he was seven he suffered severe damage to his hearing as the result of a lightning strike, so that he could not attend the public school and had to be educated by private tuition.
Despite his heavy disability he was able to pass the final examination of a German High school as a non- scholar in 1937.
In Aug 1937 he entered the economic section of the I-G-Farbenindustrie Ltd. as a special trainee.
