SWJ Greeff matriculated at Van Rhynsdorp High School in 1930. It beingDepression years it was difficult to find work. He started off as alabourer during the construction of the Cape Town Zoo. Shortlyafterwards he joined the Police force where by taking the necessaryexams, he was promoted to First Class Sergeant. World War 2 waslooming. He was interned at Koffiefontein during world war 2 because, asa member of the SA Police force, he dit not want to sign a document ofloyalty to the British Crown. During his internment, he started to studyfor the BCom degree through the University of South Africa which hefinished a few years later and became a businessman and owner of OranjeMeubels at Hennenman, OVS. He sucessfully conducted this business untilhis death on 2 December 1984 He was an elder in the GK Church and waselected the Mayor of Hennenman in 1969. The Community Hall in Hennenmanwas named after him: Servaas Greeff Community Hall. He was a member ofthe Central Free State Community Development board and he did a lot forhousing in the black community. He is the author of the chapter "DiePolisie Geval" in the book of the interns of that time "Agter Tralies enDoringdraad". In later years heloved to play Golf.
Servaas married Ivy Elizabeth UREN on 6 Mar 1937 in Worcester, KP. Ivy (daughter of William Hodges UREN and Susanna Elizabeth DU PLESSIS) was born on 29 Nov 1912 in Malmesbury, Cape Province.; died on 26 Dec 2006 in her bed at Ebenhaeser Old Age Home, 211 Anna Wilson Street, Kilnerpark, Pretoria, from natural causes.; was buried on 29 Dec 2006 in Heatherdale, Pretoria Noord.
