The map shows four dwellings that were called Langvlei, and another four that were called Kleinkrans. The farm we are looking at lay north of the lake, against the road and the railway line, and bordered on Avontuur farm. It is a subdivision of the original KLEINKRANZ farm. The house was about where the word Langvlei is printed between the railway line and the lake.

Kitty Greeff, who lived in that house, told me on the phone today that they used to walk to Duiwerivier siding to catch the train to boarding school. Kitty also mentioned that her mom's sister used to live beyond Onder-Langvlei, where the caravan park is now. Kitty's father's two brothers farmed on the other side of the lake from their house, and they kept a flat-bottomed skiff with which to cross the lake and visit these uncles. Kitty's mom also owned about 50 morgen of "dune land", which was the sandy part along the coast. Kitty's mother inherited the farm from her father, Hendrik Roelofse.

The entire area was expropriated by the Government and is now part of "The Lakes Nature Reserve".
