Matthias Greeff, *circa 1660.

The first Greeff to arrive in South Africa was a blacksmith who settled at Stellenbosch in 1680. Matthias Greeff arrived from Magdeburg in Germany and married Susanna Claassen at Cape Town when she was 12 years old. The couple had nine children, the first of whom was born when Susanna was 13 years old.
They lived happily ever after.
