The surname is to my knowledge spelt "DELL" -- I've been working on Johan Christoffel Dell (the stamvader) who died in 1779. Have a note to hand that: "Johan Christoffel Dell, married to Carolina Johanna Greeff, parents of Pieter Philip Godlieb Dell, born 17.6.1892, bapt. in the Swartland on 7.8.1892".
